I've only been playing a few days, but today I got completely stuck on PvP. I've been able to progress nicely, spent a few dollars to speed that up. But now I have 5 PvP battles on my screen that no matter how many times I try to reset it, I get the same set of 5-6 players.
Not sure how the game expects me to beat level 90 players and those with all maxed mythical, divine, and legendary players. Power ups or not, I can't kill one of their characters with all 7 of mine. They clear my deck in one fell swoop.
Kinda ridiculous. I have a few level 80's and all are over 40. Things like this will drive me away from this game with a quickness. After four years playing Forces of War, I won't get addicted to a flawed game. The main thing that kept me interested were the hourly PvP battles, now I don't have those.

Oh, and of course I have tried force closing the app and trying again.

Sounds like you hit a dead zone, once you progress pvp point wise you will find more targets. I have 15 every hour........
As for not being able to clear the 5-6 battles you have now that is due to the limited players within your pvp range BUT nothing is impossible. Use a titan that has a skill to take down a whole row, once the front row is down your 7 against the back 3 cards should be a breeze.
Look for skills like flood, wall smash, dark flood, demolish and light beam.
I used Lumenthane to clear rows but if you don't want a fusion titan try duskrift (Divine) he can clear a front row. Lumenthane has the advantage of attacking the back row even if the front row is still standing so has the ability to kill the leader on the first move. It's leader skill (evade) made it worth while owning as well. As for skill charges they're only $1,000 but we get quite a few in the weekly or daily events for free.
The problem with battles: They are based on pvp range, meaning if you progress too quickly you will encounter higher players that progressed slower and have finished building their deck. On the good side; you'll encounter lower players that rushed up and can't hold their own against you.
Don't let player level's scare you as it's irrelevant to strength as we all play differently. Maxed players can be found at any level just like weaker players can. Same applies in Fow low levels with enormous strength and high levels as weak as kittens..... It happens :)
